The Way We Carry

The Way We Carry, created by Brit Kleinman, the head bag designer for Jack Spade,  is a collection of images about what we use to carry our things and has quickly become one of my favorite daily reads.

“I truly believe that the ability to make tools is what separates humans out from other animals. But with our dependency on tools, comes the need to carry these items with us on a daily basis.  In my own design I take an ethnographic approach, looking at how each bag represents the ‘tools’ we use every day within the lifestyles we live.  I really wanted to create this website for people interested in knowing about great bag designs currently on marketplace,” says Brit.

I have an 18″ Canvas Tool Bag from Klein Tools and can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve received.  I’ve found it interesting to browse Brit’s blog and view all the different types of bags.  In a (fashion) world of excess it’s great to see designers creating bags where form truly follows function and yet the pieces are still so elegant and aesthetically desirable.
