James’s blog, 10engines, has been an inspiration to me from the get-go.  His style is highly suggestive of his down-to-Earth New England (Boston/Vermont) roots, and the strong influence his English father played in his sartorial upbringing.  In a fantastic interview James gave on all plaidout (link), he says of his father, “He’ll turn up to a town meeting in his torn tweed jacket (pockets probably full of old nails or his pipe) and muddy wellingtons, plus a yellow OCBD and bowtie, probably whistling. About 5 years ago he did break a lifelong streak and got a pair of jeans, but true-to-form he has patched and re-patched that pair ever since. A cook, botanist, farmer, beekeeper and musician, but foremost a country doctor… he sets the bar pretty high. Anyway, let’s not get sappy here, onto the clothes…”  Couldn’t have said it better myself!

Hey Brennan… this look isn’t ‘shocking-the-world’ but that is half the point I guess…

Wanted to just add a few notes… The Filson double tin cloth pants; killer flap pockets at back -don’t own these yet but on the lottery list. The JPress boxers; so great. If you starch and iron them they can stand up by themselves, haha. Really enjoying this series, can’t wait to see the others. best j
