Nick Maggio is author of A Time To Get, and curator of And These Are The Days.  He is also a contributor to Falcon Motorcycle‘s blog.  For The Aesthete series Nick says, “I Tried to come up with something that was inline with what I do/wear/report/whatever.  I dress WAY boring, straight up jeans, vans, tee, and maybe a woven, and that’s all.  Thought I’d give myself some guidelines for your project…Use only brands commonly thought of as ‘uncool.’   Be it for their production value, cost, association or parent company.”

I was surprised when I first viewed Nick’s head-to-toe, but I love it!  I think some people are seriously underwhelmed when they meet me.  Perhaps they’re expecting me to be dressed in Mark McNairy, Inverallan, and Engineered Garments 24/7.  As much as I love these brands (and I really do) I can’t afford everything I want.   As soon as I start making decent money, who knows, I might match people’s expectations!  Until then, however, I’ll be doing as Nick does – mixing the “uncool” in an attempt to express my own personal style (Not that J.Crew is uncool!!).

Love it. I’ve always thought the true test of style is a budget look, there’s something completely uninteresting (and unpractical for most) about always looking to the top shelf. Well done.

Really excellent. I particularly think the coat and bag steal the show although the boots in that bright red have the ability to steal the show. Ace.

Leave it to Nick to have a fresh take, just like A Time To Get. I love that he took this approach of affordable pieces and brands that are currently uncool.

Nice to hear that other people can’t afford every item they lust after.

    Great post.

I sorta don’t get the point of making up outfits that these contributors don’t actually wear/own.
