Burton x Red Wing Heritage

December 31st, 2011  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear, Sport

In the winter you’ll often find me wearing my Red Wing Iron Rangers or 6-inch Mocs.  Red Wing’s built up its reputation over the last century as one of America’s finest bootmakers and this winter they’ve teamed up with another venerable American brand – Burton.  This collaboration, The Rover Limited snowboard boot, was inspired by [...]

Inside Collings Guitars

September 26th, 2011  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear, Music

“When they’re worn, well worn, well played, it’s great. That’s the best looking guitar there is out there. Is the one that has a patina…That’s a good looking guitar. That’s when they’re right.” Founded in 1973 by Bill Collings, Collings Guitars is an Austin-based manufacturer of high-end custom guitars and mandolins. As an avid guitarist, [...]

Introducing D.C. Lewis Footwear | Clayton Monkstrap

July 28th, 2011  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear

Over the past several months, two young gents, David and Logan, have been working very hard on the release of the first collection for their new footwear brand, D.C. Lewis.  I’ve been pining for a pair of single monkstraps ever since I first laid eyes on the Alfred Sargent Benson MTOs I blogged about a [...]

Alfred Sargent Benson MTO

March 15th, 2011  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear

I’ve been following Leffot’s blog forever and this weekend I finally swung by the store for the very first time.  It didn’t take long for Leffot to become my new favorite shoe shop.  This shoe, recently posted by Leffot, is the Benson monk and is one of the new designs in the Alfred Sargent Handgrade [...]

The Hiker

January 15th, 2011  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear

Lately I’ve seen a lot of hikers making their way around the menswear blogosphere.  I wasn’t so sure about them at first because of their unique shape and relatively high price points, but I have to admit that they’ve grown on me—even if those Golden Goose Pivettas don’t come with a complimentary Sherpa.  After Snowpocalypse [...]

Maria Sharapova for Cole Haan

August 27th, 2010  |  by Brennan  |  published in Footwear

At the New Museum tonight, Maria Sharapova revealed her new footwear collection for Cole Haan.  “On the court, Maria Sharapova has made a name for herself as an international tennis star.  Off the court, she expresses her love for fashion through her own collection of Cole Haan handbags and footwear.”  Maria and Cole Haan celebrated [...]

I have the brown wool ones from a few seasons ago and they’re one of my favorite pairs of shoes.  Now corduroy?  I must have these!  Available now at colette. Share

PF Flyers: Run Faster, Jump Higher

December 1st, 2009  |  by thepursuitaesthetic  |  published in Footwear

Until recently I was unaware that PF Flyers had so much heritage!  Founded by BF Goodrich in 1937 the brand was actually purchased by Converse in 1972.  New Balance eventually bought rights to the brand in 2001 after Converse sold it due to antitrust issues. In the 1930′s and early 1940′s PF (or “Posture Foundation”) [...]
