Alfred Sargent Benson MTO

March 15th, 2011  |  Published in Footwear  |  1 Comment

I’ve been following Leffot’s blog forever and this weekend I finally swung by the store for the very first time.  It didn’t take long for Leffot to become my new favorite shoe shop.  This shoe, recently posted by Leffot, is the Benson monk and is one of the new designs in the Alfred Sargent Handgrade Collection.  If you’re in NYC on April 21st, Leffot will be hosting Chay Copper, the Product Director of Alfred Sargent, to debut several new models to the line.  I’ll see you there!

Rewaxing your Barbour

Fantastic video made by our friends at Lark. In addition to some repairs, my Barbour could definitely use a rewaxing! Picking up some Thornproof Dressing as soon as it warms up a bit.

During fashion week, I swung by the GANT by Michael Bastian F/W 2011 Presentation and was truly blown away. I’m so excited for Michael and the rest of my friends over at Gant for this collection to be in stores.

Richard Haines on FashionTelevision

February 10th, 2011  |  Published in Art, Fashion

Richard Haines of What I Saw Today fame is one of the absolute nicest people I’ve come across through my blogging. Richard developed an incredible eye for style and illustration while working with Calvin Klein, Bill Blass, and Perry Ellis, and currently illustrates for In Style magazine, J.Crew, and others. If you haven’t already, visit his site here!

The Hiker

January 15th, 2011  |  Published in Footwear

Lately I’ve seen a lot of hikers making their way around the menswear blogosphere.  I wasn’t so sure about them at first because of their unique shape and relatively high price points, but I have to admit that they’ve grown on me—even if those Golden Goose Pivettas don’t come with a complimentary Sherpa.  After Snowpocalypse No. 1 and 2 here in New York, I’m now convinced that these ought to be a winter essential, even if the longest trek you’ll make is just to the bodega down the block.

capsule

Last (capsule) I had just started my new job and couldn’t make it out, which was devastating.  This year, I’ll definitely be there (on Monday, if anyone would like to meet up) and can’t wait to check out some of my favorite brands’ latest wears.  Stay locked for the drop.

Here’s an incomplete list of some of the brands I can’t wait to see this Monday:
Billy Reid
Edwin Japan
Garbstore
Grenson
Haversack
Heritage Research
Mark McNairy New Amsterdam
Monitaly
Our Legacy
Perfecto Brand by Schott
Red Wing Shoes
Relwen
Taylor Supply
WM J. Mills & Co.

The New Haven Math Club | Gant Rugger

by Brennan | Read | 2 Comments

Well done by Christopher, Douglas, et al. on another great collection from the Gant family! Key pieces in Gant Rugger’s Pre-Fall 2011 collection include a faded madras check check blazer, straight from the archives, the cord blazer, for that professorial look, threadbare in the right spots, and slipovers and v-necks in jacquard patterns. I especially [...]

INVENTORY | No. 4

by Brennan | Read | 1 Comment

This morning I received the fourth edition of Inventory and quickly discovered that with features on Makr Carry Goods, John Smedley, Yuki Matsuda, and WWM (Daiki Suzuki and Mark McNairy, of course), this is the best edition yet.  The editorial content and photography are just brilliant.  My only gripe is that there are only two [...]

Repton Boxing Club by Alasdair Mclellan

by Brennan | Read | 1 Comment

“Last week saw the launch of the Sunspel film ‘Repton Boxing Club’, by Alasdair McLellan, a fascinating look into Britain’s most famous amateur boxing club in the East End of London. The film features Ryan Pickard, Ellis Pickard, Louis Cadman and Sam Lawson, wearing Sunspel classics, boxing, training and discussing everything from tattoos to who [...]
